New Project: The Parallax Papers is Out

Updated: Mar 27

It's been a while since I've posted in here, or really done much in general. Work is busy and work is good. In order to find some kind of personally creative outlet that is separate from the creative work my job scratches, I've put together a short analog-esque series that is on TikTok.

It was a challenge in a couple ways that I anticipated, as well as did not foresee. Utilizing all of the skills I've developed over the many years, translating that to the vertical format was the challenge I was looking forward to. I have never really been terribly active or engaged with social media, so that was and still is the biggest obstacle I've encountered. I haven't put anything here about it simply because it is difficult to keep up with everything, as well as maintaining work and life.

The series is ongoing. It is inspired by the presentation of information that the analog horror genre provides. It has been a fun exercise to piece together a complex narrative that is told through roughly 1 minute segments. Releasing it has been annoying though. The AI moderating software constantly flags my videos for things that absolutely do not pertain to the content of the given segments, despite the fact I have seen truly grotesque things on the same platform. Either way, that's just a gripe that ultimately does not effect my desire to keep pushing more out.

On a side note, last year's 72 Film Fest resulted in a short called People Person that has been on the YouTube channel for a while, but I realized I never put it on here. At this point, all of these posts and upkeep has ended up just being a way-too-complicated journal of my creative endeavors. And in spite of that, I am going to try to make a more concerted effort to make more updates here even if my only reader is a dementia riddled future Scott.
